Alvin Ratner has an MBA in Marketing and an MA in Operations Research and Applied Statistics from New York University's Stern School of Business Administration. He is a specialist in knowledge discovery, predictive modeling, market segmentation and response analysis, all essential techniques for the efficient targeting of direct mail and telemarketing ventures.

Alvin is a consultant to American Express, Ameritech, Coach Leather, DoubleDay, Dow Jones, Hallmark Cards, Microsoft, The New York Times, Random House, Charles Schwab, SNET and The Washington Post, for whom he created statistical modeling and data mining models.

Active in the Direct Marketing Association, Mr. A. Ratner currently serves as Chairman of the DM STAT-1 StatLab and is a frequent speaker at national conferences. He also teaches a variety of courses for the DMA and is on the faculty at New York University's Stern School of Business Administration.
