Rethink The Regression Model:
Think GenIQ Model

Bruce Ratner, Ph.D.

The GenIQ Model© is a method for automatically and simultaneously performing the trinity of techniques: selecting important original variables, finding patterns within the data by constructing new important variables from the original variables, and formulating a mathematical equation based on the best set of original and constructed variables. The GenIQ Model is based on the assumption-free, nonparametric genetic paradigm inspired by Darwin’s Principle of Survival of the Fittest. GenIQ offers a clear advantage over current statistical methods, whose performance is dependent upon theoretical assumptions, predefined model formulations, and data-type  restrictions. Moreover, GenIQ offers both a time-advantage and an intelligence-advantage over regression-based methods, as the latter require human intervention to perform the trinity of techniques. Therefrom, database marketing  model builders are compelled to rethink regression models such as logistic and ordinary least-squares. A case study is presented to illustrate the potential of GenIQ for building database marketing and CRM regression-based models.
